After teasing his new album for like half a year, the RnB artist finally dropped his 5th studio album “dawn FM”. dawn FM could’ve been an easy hit on the charts but it has to fulfill the legacy of it’s successor “After Hours” left. To wake up at the dawn we have to go through the After Hours. To get to the light, we have to pass through the tunnel of darkness. To get to the god, we have to fight our inner demons.

The genius of The Weeknd and Legacy of “After Hours”

This city is cold and empty, no one’s around to judge me.

Apart from the chart bursting songs like ‘Blinding Lights’ , ‘Save your Tears’ as far as I consider After Hours is not just another album, it’s a lifestyle, it about the time when you run away from everything, you couldn't face it and you don’t want to. After Hours is the time when your inner demons show up and put all the bad thoughts in your mind. It’s the time where you hide in the darkness. The album itself had a unique narrative from each track to track and from each music video to music video, it was a beautiful trip telling us how people are two faced, hungry for lust, cruel. If you haven’t been through the trip of After Hours, I highly recommend you to listen to After Hours.

The After Hours is more like hiding out in the dark, trying not face your regrets, inner demons, or yourself. But to quote Kanye West, “Even if you are not ready for the day, it cannot always be night”. That’s it, that’s the quick one liner of the transition from “After Hours” to “dawn FM”, but wait The Weeknd has lot more to tell in the “dawn FM”.

Through out the journey of “After Hours”, we know that The Weeknd is trying to tell us a story from each music video, making it like a series of short film, this continues in “dawn FM” too. Never seen an artist who gives so much cinematic exposure for an album, Kudos to Abel for that! Now to experiment something more interesting with his next studio album, the RnB artist has moved a further step up, to make it as a radio

The number station to free your soul

How to make an legendary album even more legendary, you put Jim Carrey in it. The Weeknd went a step further and made the narrative of the “dawn FM” a radio show and making it legendary by putting the infamous Jim Carrey as the host to the show. The album is a masterpiece right from the start to the end and when I meant masterpiece, I meant literally a masterpiece, because “dawn FM” is not the kind of album that makes millions in selling copies and running the charts, it’s rather a kind of album which gives voice to the people who are too scared to come out of the dark face their reality.

103.5 dawn FM

The album starts and ends with notes from our favorite Jim Carrey, the intro of the album tells us that we are about to go through a transition from the dark to the dawn and Jim Carrey along with couple of artist is here to take us through this painless transition.

“You are now listening to 103.5 Dawn FM
You’ve been in the dark for way too long
It’s time to walk into the light
And accept your fate with open arms
Scared? Don’t worry
We’ll be there to hold your hand and guide you through this painless transition
But what’s the rush?
Just relax and enjoy another hour of commercial free yourself music on 103.5 Dawn FM
Stay tuned!”

As mentioned above its an hour of musical journey making us to move from dark to the dawn.

Accept your fate with open arms

You will only seek the light when you truly let go of the past, let go of the trauma, let go of the thoughts in your mind and come to state where nothing is left to do. Don’t be obsessing over aftermath, apocalypse and hopelessness.

It’s 5 AM, I’m nihilist
I know therе’s nothing after this

Obsessing over aftermaths
Apocalypse and hopelessness

Drop off your existential crisis, when you come to a point that there’s no life left for you to live, only then god will show you the light and will take you to the heaven. Remember flowers how they used to open up their petals to the light, open up yourself.

Consider the flowers, they don’t try to look right
They just open their petals and turn to the light

Are you listening real close? Heaven’s not that, it’s this.

It’s enough of hiding in the past, trying to escape reality, running away from everything that you’re responsible for. We all have our regrets, phantom regrets. Now it’s time for you to face everything, look back at time and see your mistakes, and realize there’s nothing that can be changed, because Heaven’s for those who let go of regret. Step out to the the light with open arms, because it’s not going to be dark for all along.

What could’ve been yours is not yours now, but its okay, let them go. Be happy for them. Not everything meant to happen in your way, and its completely okay. Once you let go off your dark past and, regrets, and feeling then you’ll see your Afterlife a new purpose for you to live. Once you come to the mental state of letting go of things, only then you’ll see a vivid picture.

“ Soon you’ll be healed, forgiven, and refreshed
Free from all trauma, pain, guilt, and shame
You may even forget your own name

I’m ending this article here and this one is for the one’s who are too scared to come out of the past and embrace what’s Infront of them. Believe me once you let go of all the regret in your life you’ll be in heaven, and to quote “Phantom Regret by Jim”

“You gotta be Heaven to see Heaven
May peace be with you

I’m putting up the link for After Hours and dawn FM, give it a try and I’m pretty sure that you won’t regret.
